General info : | | James Hodges (born on June 26, 1928 - died on February 3, 2019, Paris France) was a French artist and illustrator.
He worked in several fields: ventriloquist - puppeteer, illusionist and illustrator, and was interested in all forms of entertainment: circus , music hall, theater, pantomime, illusion and ballet.
Born in 1928, he was accepted at a very young age into Paul Colin 's workshop where he was introduced to the visual arts. At the same time, he performed ventriloquism and illusionism shows in music halls and circuses.
He then collaborated with dance magazines by illustrating articles as well as with publishing houses like Paris Flirt. He also exhibited in several galleries.
He lectures on ventriloquism, illusionism, black theatre and staging, while advising certain magicians (including Siegfried and Roy) and creating effects for them.
In 1976, he created the magazine Mad Magic with Jean Merlin.
